Fairmont History
Fairmont Springs was home to the Kutenai Indians who relied on the hot springs for healing and medicinal use. White explorers like George Simpson later discovered the springs in 1841. Other explorers like David Thompson explored the famous Fairmont Indian baths. The first homestead in the area was built by George Geary in 1887.
